Another Thin Man: The 3rd Thin Man movie sees Nick (William Powell) and Nora (Myrna Loy) and Nick Jr. on the east coast.  They are summoned to Long Island to help Col. McFadden, the business partner of Nora's father who manages the businesses that are jointly owned.  It appears that Col. McFadden is being threatened by a man, an old employee of McFadden's who has recently gotten out of jail.  The man, Phil Church, has had a vision of him being murdered and has said that when the 3rd time the dream happens it comes true.  Meanwhile, there have been incidents on McFadden's property and everybody is jumpy.  After McFadden is murdered, the Charles move the household back to the hotel in Manhattan and try to piece together the clues of the murder.  Nick and Nora host an impromptu birthday party for Nick Jr.  when everything hits the fan and the murderer is revealed.

Shadow of the Thin Man:  In the fourth installment, Nick (William Powell) is officially retired from the detective business.  He has his beautiful wife, Nora (Myrna Loy) to take care of and he is working on setting a good example for his son.  But murder is coming back into his sphere from the local racetrack, when a jockey is found dead.  Maj. Sculley, the racing commissioner, is asking for help to get the case solved.  But it's not until a friend is accused of the murder of a crooked newsman that Nick jumps fully back into sleuthing.  His cast of suspects includes gamblers, the girlfriend of one of the gamblers, bookies, and the sweetheart of the suspect.  Hi-jinks ensue with a merry-go-round escapade and a free-for-all in a fancy seafood restaurant.  Everything comes to a boil and the true murderer is revealed in another gathering of the suspects.

Sliding Doors: Gwyneth Paltrow is Helen whose life branches into two directions one day.   Her day starts with her running late to work and she loses her PR job.  As she heads home, she misses the train, gets hit in the head and has to find a new job.  The second direction of her life starts when she catches the train.  On the train, she meets a chatty bloke by the name of James (John Hannah).  Helen heads home and finds her boyfriend Gerry (John Lynch) of 2 years in bed with his ex-girlfriend Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn).  The movie then follows Helen's two lives, similiarities and differences, until her two lives are re-joined back into one life.  Leading one to wonder at the vagaries of fate.

Song of the Thin Man:  William Powell and Myrna Loy re-team for the sixth and final installment of the Nick and Nora series.  This time they are looking into the murder of the bandleader, Tommy Drake.  There are a slew of suspects Phil Brant (the owner of the gambling ship who was about to lose Tommy to a competitor), Phil's new wife (the socialite Janet Thayer), Fran Page (Tommy's discarded lover), and a disappeared clarinetist Buddy Hollis (Fran's old love), to name a few.  With the help of "Clinker", a sax-man, Nick and Nora explore the jazz clubs and the "hip, jive-talking" crowd in an effort to locate the missing Buddy Hollis.  After a second murder, Nick gathers together all of the suspects onto the gambling to reel in the murderer.

The Thin Man:  William Powell and Myrna Loy are delightful as they play married couple Nick and Nora Charles.  He's a retired detective, she's the socialite that he married.  It's christmas in New York, an old client of Nick's has disappeared and his daughter is looking for him.  Then a dead body turns up, and Nora wants to see Nick in action, detecting.  Two more bodies appear and Nick is right in the thick of things.  The coup d'grace comes at the dinner party thrown by the Charles', they have invited all of the suspects to stir things up and reveal the guilty party.  The repartee between the two actors make the movie a delight to watch.  And the mystery's not bad either.  And if you haven't had enough of Nick and Nora, they have further adventures in the movies: After the Thin Man, Another Thin Man, Shadow of the Thin Man, The Thin Man goes home, and Song of the Thin Man

The Thin Man goes home: In this fifth installment, Nick (William Powell) and Nora (Myrna Loy) take the train to Nick's hometown of Sycamore Springs just in time for his birthday.  Nora observes the byplay between Nick and his parents, their disappointment that he never became a doctor, like his father.  When a young painter is murdered at Nick's doorstep, Nora figures that it would be a good way for Nick's father to see what he does and be proud of him.  While Nora pushes at Nick to sove the mystery, he is declaring himself to be on vacation, so she decides to investigate a little bit and to stir the pot to get Nick moving.  But on the sly, he does a little investigating of his own.  There are some hilarious scenes throughout (Nick sticking with drinking cider, Nora's defeated by a recalcitrant lawnchair, and Nora's participation in a dance raffle) before Nick pulls together a party of suspects to point out the murderer.

What Dreams May Come:  Robin Williams plays Chris Nielson, a doctor who's life unravels when his 2 children are killed in a car accident and Annie (Annabella Sciorra), his wife's, all-consuming depression nearly destroys their marriage.  Chris and Annie re-build their life together and move on with living.  Then one night, Chris stops to help at a car accident and is himself killed.  At first, he is confused about where he is and what has happened, but then he meets Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.), a spiritual guide.   Chris tries to stay and comfort the bereaved Annie, but when he sees that he is just hurting her, he moves on to an afterlife where you and your enviornment can become whatever you envision.  His enviornment becomes the paintings that Annie had done of their future.  When Annie adds to one of the pictures, it appears in Chris' enviornment, stunning Albert who realizes that Chris and Annie must be soul-mates.  Chris is settling into his new life awaiting the time when Annie joins him and he is re-united with his children, in their new forms.  Then he gets the news that an inconsolable Annie has committed suicide and that she is in Hell, a place where suicides are stuck in their own reality.  Chris determines to track her down and rescue her from her own dark prison of Hell.
